Worthy of viewing the video (15 minutes and "Lifelong") and reading the complete text...

for reading and writing skills analysis.

As a writer myself, I like to hand-write on paper someone else's written speech, if it moves me so much, which his speech did.

Then I like to type it myself word-for-word and print a copy to read again and keep it as a reference.

The first hand-writing project keeps me in tune with the old-fashioned 'physicality' of the craft of writing with pencil or pen on paper.

Just like a blacksmith forges metal into form and function, a wordsmith crafts words into a form and function.

Writing for me, is still a daily "hand-craft" of making notes, and lists, and doodles, etc.

I do compose email, but I also compose "snail-mail" letters and greeting cards, and keep a daily hand-written diary/journal scrapbook...

When you take the time to re-write someone else's powerful spoken and/or written words, you can become that person, for a time...

You are that person for a time, in time, in history... and you feel what they are feeling and expressing through their chosen/crafted words, with words... to a larger audience 'out there'...

The page before this "Words are my Friends - Page 3

Gettysburg Address" by President Abraham Lincoln

during the American Civil War (1863) is extremely brief and easy to copy/re-write yourself...

and that is an amazing opportunity to write one of the most famous historical speeches of all time...

If you are familiar with some parts of the King James English version of the Bible, it's spoken and literary rhythm,

you will feel President Lincoln's intimate experience with that timeless text, as well...

And you might feel the 'gravity' of war, and the burdens of being a President during war, leading a war

to keep your/our Nation whole...

Writing, is not boring for me, it is something deep in my spirit and person...

that is why I am a writer... I have to write...

Not everyone does... I understand that... perhaps though you might consider how you sometimes "have to express yourself"

and how you do that... or might do that...in various ways...

Some of my friends have to jog or run as a routine, some of my friends have to play music or listen to music,

some people have to 'workout', or dance, or do yoga, or meditate,... some people don't...

That's all okay... we all do our "thing" and be the person we are... and become over years...

It's Life... arts and education... the making of who we are...

Find your way and "follow your heart"...
